“We already have resources on site, but we are facing difficulties in mobilization due to the pressure from incidents coming from the central region. No aerial resources are available. The fire is advancing towards the municipality of Torre de Moncorvo, in the Carviçais area,” said Miguel Fonseca, commander of the Douro Sub-region, to the Lusa News Agency.
According to Fonseca, “the next few hours will involve a great deal of work because the fire started with great intensity in an area of difficult access.”
The alert was issued at 13:17.
Miguel Fonseca expressed concern for the area of Martim Tirado, in the municipality of Freixo de Espada à Cinta, but stated that “for now, there are no populations or properties at risk.”
As per the official page of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC), there were 220 personnel on the ground as of 18:30, supported by 64 vehicles, five tracked machines, and one aerial resource.
