A semi-rigid vessel was intercepted by Huelva’s Civil Guard and the GNR, carrying 93 bales of hashish, totaling 3,720 kg.
On May 8, the GNR had already announced the seizure of 1,700 kg of hashish on the Guadiana River.
The GNR confirmed that the total seizure exceeds 3,700 kg, as corroborated by data from both Portuguese and Spanish authorities.
The vessel was pursued by the authorities, and during the escape, the drug bales were dumped into the river, with 93 being recovered. A satellite phone was also confiscated.
According to the GNR, the drug seizure took place in Spanish territorial waters, between Portugal and southern Lepe, in the Spanish province of Andalusia.
The seized materials were handed over to Spain’s Guardia Civil, the authority leading the investigation.
In the past two weeks, two operations have been conducted on the Guadiana River, with collaboration between the two countries to enhance security in this border area.
