More than 50 artists perform at the MIL festival in Lisbon between today and Saturday.

The 9th edition of the MIL festival will offer an artistic program that emphasizes the festival’s diverse identity, showcasing emerging and urgent music.

From October 8 to 11, Beato will be the venue where both emerging and established artists converge, creating an environment of sharing and discovery that promotes artistic circulation, cultural exchange, and dialogue between different musical perspectives, stated the organization.

Among more than 50 artists confirmed from various countries are Brazilians Zudizilla, Xênia França, AJULIACOSTA, Flor, and Maria Beraldo, Portuguese artists Hetta, Mike11, Inês Marques Lucas, Marquise, ClericBeast, YANG, Pedro da Linha, Tixa and Carolina Miragaia, Irish artist Yard, Spanish artists 1111, Roy Borland, and MDA, Polish group VGTBL.PL, and Belgians Accou & Marjole, Gros Coeur, and Julie Rains.

This edition of the convention’s program includes over 50 activities questioning the role of culture in contemporary society.

Consisting of lectures, roundtables, workshops, labs, and discussion groups, the convention explores three main interconnected themes: Culture and Politics, the Music Industry, and the Night Economy, according to the organization.

Over four days, the event will gather artists, journalists, researchers, activists, educators, and other cultural sector professionals to discuss topics such as “Cultural Rights: Class, Territory, and Intersectionality,” “Culture and Ethics: Cultural Rights in the Digital Space,” “The Ethical Maze of Capital in the Music Industry,” “Festivals, Brands, and Curatorship: Partnership or Dependence?” and “Time is Political: Collective Practices of Continuity.”
