
More than 560 individuals were apprehended in flagrante delicto during operations conducted by the National Republican Guard (GNR) nationwide between June 13 and June 19.
The authorities specified that the actions aimed not only at “the prevention and fight against crime and road accidents but also the inspection of various regulatory matters,” according to a statement sent this Saturday to Notícias ao Minuto.
In total, the GNR arrested 561 individuals in flagrante delicto. Of these, 292 were for driving under the influence of alcohol. Another 114 were detained for driving without a legal license, while 34 were apprehended for drug trafficking, 11 for theft and robbery, 11 for possession of prohibited weapons, and six for domestic violence.
Regarding road inspections, the GNR identified a total of 8,284 infractions, highlighting 3,552 for speeding, 1,076 for missing mandatory periodic inspection, and 411 for driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. Furthermore, 305 infractions were recorded for lack of liability insurance, 252 related to tachographs, 241 related to lighting and signaling system anomalies, 200 for improper use of mobile phones while driving, and 195 for lack or incorrect use of seat belts and/or child restraint systems.
The operations also enabled authorities to seize 2,655.22 doses of hashish, 381.37 doses of cocaine, 65.952 doses of cannabis, 34 firearms, 25 white or prohibited weapons, 296 pieces of ammunition, and seven vehicles.
The GNR is “a military nature security force, composed of military personnel organized into a special troop corps and equipped with administrative autonomy, with jurisdiction throughout the national territory and territorial sea.”
