The IPMA has placed several municipalities across all districts of mainland Portugal at very high and elevated risk of fire.
The institute’s calculations indicate that the fire risk will remain high in some districts at least until the weekend.
This risk, assessed by the IPMA, is categorized into five levels ranging from reduced to maximum. The calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation over the last 24 hours.
The IPMA forecasts for today periods of cloudy skies and showers on the mainland, which may be locally strong with hail and accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly in the interior and from the afternoon onwards.
The forecast also includes a slight increase in maximum temperatures along the North and Center coast and a slight decrease in the interior Center and South regions.
Minimum temperatures will range between 15 degrees Celsius (in Setúbal) and 21 (in Portalegre and Castelo Branco), with maximum temperatures between 25 (in Aveiro) and 34 (in Bragança).
