More than 90 operatives fight fire in eucalyptus grove in Loures

More than 90 operatives, with the help of a helicopter, were fighting a fire that broke out in an area of eucalyptus trees in the municipality of Loures at around 09:00, a civil protection source told Lusa.

A source from the Greater Lisbon Sub-regional Command said at around 09:00 that there were no people at risk.

“We have one slightly injured person. A firefighter with a sudden illness who was taken to the Beatriz Ângelo Hospital in Loures,” said the same source.

The fire, which broke out near the town of Bolores and was alerted at 03:36, is consuming eucalyptus trees in an area that is difficult to access.

“The fire still has an active front, but it is giving way to the media,” said the same source.

At around 09:00, 95 operatives were on the scene, with the support of 28 vehicles and one aircraft.
