The GNR has announced that it confiscated fortified wine, resembling “Port Wine,” found in a warehouse and wine cellar not legally authorized for the production and storage of goods subject to special consumption taxes. The wine was stored in wooden barrels.
Authorities estimate that the illegal sale of the seized product would have led to a loss of approximately 6,200 euros in special consumption tax revenue for the state.
During the inspection, a 67-year-old man was identified as the producer and owner of the seized alcoholic beverages.
The operation, conducted by the Fiscal Action Unit through the Porto Fiscal Action Detachment in collaboration with the Institute of Douro and Port Wines (IVDP), took place on Wednesday. This was part of a broader effort to detect violations involving goods subject to special consumption taxes.
