Mortágua joins the BE delegation after detention and Portas enters the campaign

On the eighth day of the municipal election campaign for Sunday’s elections, Mariana Mortágua will join the BE delegation after several weeks abroad on the Global Sumud flotilla to Gaza, a journey that concluded with her detention by Israeli authorities.

The BE leader will participate in an event in Leiria focused on “highlighting the issues of the Oeste line” alongside Marisa Matias, who has been substituting Mortágua in the campaign, deputy Andreia Galvão, who took over her role in parliament, and Isabel Mendes Lopes, the co-spokesperson for Livre.

Earlier, during the morning, Marisa Matias and Andreia Galvão will attend a meeting in Figueira da Foz with SOS Cabedelo, also involving Isabel Mendes Lopes.

The day will also mark the return of Paulo Portas, former leader of CDS-PP, to the centrists’ campaign.

The former Deputy Prime Minister will be in Vale de Cambra, Aveiro, to support the CDS-PP candidate in the council, which aims to maintain centrist leadership.

Meanwhile, CDS-PP President Nuno Melo will bring the party’s campaign to the Autonomous Region of Madeira, where a gathering is planned near the City Hall of Santana (another of the six municipalities in the country led by centrists), followed by a press conference, a visit to local bars, a walkabout, and a lunch.

In Madeira, Nuno Melo will spend the afternoon in Câmara de Lobos, ending the day with dinner alongside candidates in the municipality of Calheta.

After three days mainly in the north, Social Democratic leader and Prime Minister Luís Montenegro will head to Alentejo, beginning the day in Vendas Novas with a public engagement and another at the Roman temple in Évora.

In the afternoon, Luís Montenegro will proceed to the Algarve, including a lunch gathering and a boat trip in Faro, followed by a rally in Silves at 18:00 and a dinner rally at Albufeira’s Multiuse Space.

PS Secretary-General José Luís Carneiro will dedicate the campaign day entirely to the Setúbal district, with a morning visit to the Garcia de Orta Hospital in Almada.

In the afternoon, the socialist plans a public engagement with the fishing community in Sesimbra and, at night, a rally in Barreiro.

PCP Secretary-General Paulo Raimundo will participate in four CDU (PCP/PEV) initiatives, with a morning parade in Loures and another in the afternoon in Amadora.

The communists will then conclude the day with two rallies in the Santarém district: the first in Benavente and the second in Alpiarça.

Chega President André Ventura will be in the Leiria district in the morning, conducting campaign activities in the Nazaré and Marinha Grande councils.

In the afternoon, he will be in the Entroncamento council, Santarém district.

IL President Mariana Leitão will travel up north, with an agenda in the central and northern areas of the country.

In the morning, she will participate in a journey on the “Vouguinha” train in Aveiro and attend a meeting with the Local Health Unit’s board in the same city. In the afternoon, she has scheduled a visit to Viseu Aerodrome.

Rui Tavares, co-spokesperson for Livre, will be in the Braga district for a conversation with Jorge Araújo, the candidate for the Barcelos Municipal Assembly, in Largo Porta Nova, and a public engagement in Praça da República.

PAN spokesperson Inês de Sousa Real will head to the Algarve, with a morning walkabout in Faro and another later in the day in Vila Real de Santo António. She will also conduct a mid-afternoon visit to support the party’s candidacy in the Olhão council.
