Mariana Mortágua, at the closing rally of the Bloco de Esquerda (BE) campaign in Jardim da Avenida Luísa Todi, Setúbal, emphasized the significance of every vote in the upcoming elections. She stated, “We know that on Sunday we will count vote by vote, we know that every vote counts. In many districts like Setúbal, Porto, Aveiro, Lisbon, Leiria, Coimbra, in Braga, everything is decided. It is decided whether there will be a BE, Chega, or IL deputy.”
In her final appeal to combat strategic voting, the BE leader reiterated, “Those who want the left in parliament, those who want rent caps, will vote for BE on Sunday.”
She further emphasized the need for a strong left presence capable of challenging the far-right, saying, “In each district, those who want a strong left in parliament, a left capable of fighting for all, will vote for the Bloco de Esquerda.”
Addressing undecided voters, Mortágua reached out to those who remain unsure about their choice, suggesting they may decide only at the last moment inside the voting booth.
“To all those people, all those women and men who will enter that booth to decide who they will vote for, we want to give confidence,” she urged. “I know they want to lower housing costs. I know they want to respect work. And I know they know the difficult lives of women in this country, who rise so early and go to bed so late, to sustain this country. To all these people who know what matters in life, we say, vote BE,” she appealed.
Mortágua argued that BE deputies “will not retreat a step, will not lower their voices, will not bow their heads, will not be silenced, and will not fear” and will be in parliament “to confront the far-right.”
