The provisional results released by the Ministry of Internal Administration indicate that only the Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP), Nós, Cidadãos!, and Ergue-te parties increased their share of the vote, while other parties experienced a decline in the legislative election results.
JPP improved its result from the previous legislative elections, climbing from 0.31% to 0.34%, translating to an increase from 19,145 to 20,126 votes, which secured the election of its lead candidate from the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Filipe Sousa.
In an election featuring 12 political parties that did not secure parliamentary seats, the predominant trend was a decrease in votes, with parties like Reagir, Incluir, Reciclar (RIR) and Nova Direita (ND) witnessing significant drops. Alternativa Democrática Nacional (ADN), despite a reduction in support, managed to receive the public subsidy awarded to parties exceeding 50,000 votes.
Among those that decreased, ADN received 78,914 votes (1.32%), down from 102,134 votes (1.65%) in the 2024 elections, yet it still ensured eligibility for public funding.
Ergue-te was one of the biggest gainers, increasing its share from 0.10% in the previous elections to 0.15%, translating to a rise of 2,776 votes.
Similarly, Nós, Cidadãos! saw an increase to 0.05%, a rise of 0.01% compared to the last legislative elections, achieving 372 more votes.
On the downward trend, RIR’s share nearly halved, declining from 0.42% in 2024 (26,092 votes) to 0.23% (13,550 votes). ND also saw a sharp decline, falling from 0.27% in 2024 (16,456 votes) to 0.14% (8,217 votes).
The Volt party recorded a decrease to 0.18%, down by 0.01% from 2024, while the Partido Trabalhista Português (PTP) fell from 0.04% to 0.01%. The Partido Comunista dos Trabalhadores Portugueses (PCTP/MRPP) dropped from 0.25% to 0.18%.
There were some unique cases among the parties, such as the Partido Popular Monárquico (PPM) running alone in these elections, unlike in 2024 when it was part of the Democratic Alliance coalition. Additionally, the Movimento Partido da Terra, which previously ran in coalition with the Aliança party, participated independently this time.
PPM achieved a result of 0.09% (5,296 votes), while MPT received 0.01% (471 votes).
These elections also featured a debuting party, the Partido Liberal Social, which, in its first election since registration, garnered 0.11% of the vote, equating to 6,336 votes.
