Most Portuguese travelers, comprising 75%, remain unaware of their air passengers’ rights, as reported in a study released by AirHelp this Wednesday.
The report states, “78% of European air passengers are aware of a regulation that protects their rights, with this figure rising to 84% in Portugal. However, 75% do not know what these rights entail.”
The study indicates that “there is still a long way to go for passengers to be informed of their rights in cases of flight delays or cancellations.”
This analysis, conducted across several European countries, “concluded that 84% of Portuguese people are aware of the existence of a regulation safeguarding their rights as air passengers – Regulation EC 261/2004.”
“In Europe, this percentage drops to 78%, with Spain having the highest percentage of passengers knowledgeable about their rights (89%). In Portugal, only 26% of respondents actually know when they can claim compensation for flight disruptions and how airlines should respond in these instances,” according to the report.
