Mota-Engil’s profits rise 20% to 92 million by September

The company reported a turnover of 4.090 million euros for this period, marking a 1.4% decrease compared to the same period last year.

EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) rose by 15% to 699 million euros.

“The performance across various business sectors was highlighted by a 57% increase in revenue in Africa, reaching 1.616 million euros, with EBITDA growing by 62% to 405 million euros (margin of 25%). This was driven by a doubling of activity in the Industrial Engineering segment, positioning Mota-Engil as the leading Contract Mining operator across the African continent,” the group noted.

Mota-Engil indicated that in Europe, the company’s performance experienced “a decline exclusively due to the divestment in Poland in the third quarter of 2024 (a market which contributed 123 million euros in revenue by September 2024), and without this effect, there would be “a maintenance of activity levels in Portugal compared to the previous year.”

In Latin America, “where Mexico stands out as the largest foreign market, the group achieved a turnover of 1.561 million euros, reflecting a 29% decrease as anticipated for this year.”

Mota-Engil highlighted the increase in order backlog to “a record level of 15.7 billion euros (an increase of one billion euros since June), with Angola (19%), Mexico (17%), Portugal (12%), and Nigeria (11%) representing markets with the largest volume of Engineering and Construction projects.”
