The Public Security Police (PSP) detained a mother and son on Friday in Faro on suspicion of drug trafficking.
A statement noted that the events began late morning during a routine operation against drug trafficking when authorities observed “a situation indicative of this illegal activity, specifically a sale, on one of the streets of the city” and immediately intercepted the suspect.
Upon searching the man, a significant quantity of drugs and cash was found, leading to his arrest.
Subsequently, the mother was also detained following a search of the suspect’s residence, where additional drugs, a knife, money, and other items used in criminal activities were discovered. The suspect’s mother, who has a criminal history in drug-related offenses and resides at the same address, admitted that some of the drugs belonged to her, resulting in her arrest as well.
Authorities seized 6,715 individual doses of heroin, 1,742 doses of cocaine, and approximately 12,000 euros in cash.
The detainees will remain in police custody awaiting their court appearance, expected to occur on Saturday.
