A motorcycle accident has halted traffic in both directions on the A13 motorway, in the area of Benavente and Salvaterra de Magos, in the Santarém district, this Monday afternoon.
The Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of Lezíria do Tejo confirmed to Notícias ao Minuto that the accident resulted in two injuries, one seriously injured.
A statement from BCR – Brisa Concessão Rodoviária indicated that “A13 is closed in both directions due to an incident in the Salvaterra de Magos area.”
The alert was raised at 3:29 PM.
The motorway was closed in both directions to allow the landing of a helicopter that transported the seriously injured person to Santa Maria Hospital, in Lisbon. The slightly injured person was taken to Vila Franca de Xira Hospital.
As of 5:21 PM, traffic has reopened in the north-south direction, but remains closed in the direction where the accident occurred.
On the scene, there are 28 personnel supported by eleven vehicles.
