A road accident occurred on National Highway 244 near Aldeia Velha, in the municipality of Avis, Portalegre district, as reported to the Lusa agency.
The Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command reported that the alert for the accident was issued at 21:22. The fatality was declared at the scene by the doctor from the Portalegre emergency and resuscitation medical vehicle (VMER).
A woman with serious injuries was transported to Portalegre hospital, according to the sub-regional command.
Thirteen operatives were deployed to the scene, including firefighters from Avis, the National Institute of Medical Emergency, and the GNR, supported by seven vehicles including the VMER and a Ponte de Sor Immediate Life Support ambulance (SIV).
