The Social Democratic Party (PSD) issued a statement on Saturday addressing “the single income declaration and the clarifications requested and provided by the PSD President”, Luís Montenegro, highlighting five points to “ensure transparency and truth” and noted that the Public Prosecutor’s Office has dismissed the case that was being processed by the Constitutional Court.
Firstly, the note sent to newsrooms emphasized that “within its jurisdiction, the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Constitutional Court (TC) requested clarifications from the PSD President regarding the single declarations of 2022 and 2023”, similar to what occurs with several political office holders, and Montenegro “provided all requested clarifications in full.”
“Consequently,” the note continued, “the President of the Constitutional Court notified the PSD President yesterday, following the Public Prosecutor’s proposal, of the dismissal of the respective set of proceedings, a decision made this past Thursday, April 10, 2025.”
As a result, “it follows that there was no omission on the part of the PSD President, and no pending assessments remain.”
Finally, the note from the Social Democrats emphasized that the “Public Prosecutor’s Office considered all additional requested clarifications fulfilled” this past Thursday, a formal decision shared with the media to remove any doubts about the truthfulness of the facts.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Luís Montenegro had already denied on Saturday that he concealed bank accounts, following reports by Correio da Manhã claiming that the head of the Executive had hidden them from the Constitutional Court.
“For about two months, we have been confronting a series of reports, many of which are, in my view, filled with disinformation and manipulation of facts, often perfectly normal and ordinary,” stated Luís Montenegro, speaking to journalists upon arrival in Valpaços to visit the Folar Fair as PSD President.
Regarding the report that he allegedly concealed bank accounts, the Prime Minister stated: “It is false. Over the past 25 years, I have always reported my bank accounts in my declarations filed with the Constitutional Court. And I have duly noted them as required in the respective declarations.”

The Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, emphasized that the “clarifications were provided” and that the case is closed.
