The Elevador da Glória in Lisbon derailed on Wednesday at approximately 18:04, resulting in at least 16 deaths and injuring dozens.
The government declared a day of national mourning today, while the Lisbon Municipal Council decided to observe three days of municipal mourning.
The Elevador da Glória connects the Restauradores to the Jardim de São Pedro de Alcântara in the Bairro Alto district, along a route of about 265 meters, and is a popular attraction for tourists.
