The Chega party emerged victorious in the recent municipal elections, securing 37.34% of the votes, which translated into three elected representatives, according to MAI data. The PSD/CDS-PP coalition came in second with 30.55%, claiming two mandates.
The Socialist Party (PS), previously in control of the municipality, ranked third with 22.14% of the votes, resulting in two council members.
In the 2021 local elections, the PSD had also finished in second place, obtaining three mandates, followed by Chega with one mandate, while the PS had secured three elected positions.
