NAPA sing Italian music at Eurovision: “Beautiful song”

A few days after their song ‘Deslocado’ was performed by an Italian singer at the Kalorama festival, the NAPA band sang a song in Italian. The chosen piece was ‘Volevo essere un duro’ by Lucio Corsi, who represented Italy at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest.

“Hello to all our Italian fans. Thank you very much for your affection. Today we have a small gift for you”, said the lead singer of the Madeira band, Guilherme Gomes, in a video posted on social media before beginning to sing ‘Volevo essere un duro’.

“Long live Italy, Thank you, Lucio Corsi, for this beautiful song”, they said in the video that can be seen in the gallery below.

In the comments on the TikTok social network, Lucio Corsi responded to NAPA’s performance: “Great”.

Lucio Corsi represented Italy in the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest last May, achieving 5th place in the final with ‘Volevo essere un duro’.

However, despite the good ranking, the 31-year-old Italian almost did not participate in the European contest. This was because the winner of the Sanremo Music Festival, a prestigious Italian music competition, was Olly with ‘Balorda Nostalgia’, but he withdrew and the runner-up, Lucio Corsi, took his place.

Last Saturday, NAPA saw ‘Deslocado’—the song that placed them 21st at Eurovision—hummed by the Italian singer Damiano David, who won the contest in 2021 as the lead singer of the band Maneskin and recently launched a solo career.

“I’m really sorry I don’t speak Portuguese. I wish I did. The only thing I know is: ‘An ocean of people, a different sun, a concrete mountain doesn’t provoke me’. Amazing music. It should have won Eurovision. After Italy, of course,” stated Damiano David during his performance at the Kalorama festival, in Lisbon.

Despite ‘Deslocado’ finishing in the last positions of the Eurovision final, the song has become a global success over the past few months and entered Spotify’s Global Viral top, currently ranking at the 13th position. In total, ‘Deslocado’ has been played more than 20 million times on the streaming platform.

The song’s success is mainly due to a trend on TikTok, where more than 200,000 videos have been made using the song, with a total of over 880 million views.
