The Navy successfully rescued a 93-year-old Argentine woman on Monday, who exhibited “signs of a stroke” while traveling on a passenger ship off the coast of Porto de Leixões.

The operation, organized in collaboration with the Captaincy of Porto de Leixões, utilized a “SR-28 rigid inflatable boat” to transfer the patient, who had reduced mobility, to the Marina de Leça, in Leça da Palmeira.

Upon reaching the shore, the patient was transported to a hospital by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).

In the same statement, the Navy emphasized that “through its Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centers, it ensures a continuous response in the maritime spaces under national responsibility to incidents that may occur, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
