The 15th edition of the ‘Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems’ (REPMUS) will take place between Troia and Sesimbra. This year, starting from the 15th, it will coincide with NATO’s exercise Dynamic Messenger (DYMS), as stated by the Navy.
The event is expected to gather more than two thousand participants, including navies from various countries, industries, academic institutions, and several national and international entities.
REPMUS will focus on testing “technologies and drones that cover the various environments characterizing the maritime domain, whether surface, subsurface, aerial, or terrestrial.”
Unmanned vehicles, commonly known as drones, have applications in warfare but are also crucial for maritime surveillance, protection of critical underwater infrastructure (such as transatlantic submarine cables), and search and rescue missions.
Coorganizers include the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, NATO entities such as the ‘Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation’ and the ‘Joint Capability Group Maritime Unmanned Systems’, as well as the European Defence Agency.
