After several weeks of rising fuel prices, relief is expected as the new week begins on Monday.
The Portuguese Automobile Club (ACP) forecast, revealed on Friday, indicates that gasoline prices are set to decrease by 0.5 cents and diesel by 1.5 cents per liter.
If these predictions hold, the average price of regular diesel is expected to drop to 1.594 €/l, while regular 95 gasoline should settle at 1.686 €/l.
The ACP emphasizes, however, “that these forecasts assume the continuation of extraordinary tax reduction measures implemented by the government to mitigate the price increases,” noting that the “current measures include a reduction in the Tax on Petroleum Products (ISP) and compensation for additional VAT revenue.”
What happened last week?
This slight price drop follows a significant increase last week in the per-liter prices of both diesel and gasoline.
On Monday, a 3.5-cent increase was recorded for diesel and a two-cent increase for gasoline.
In light of this, it might be best to hold off until Monday to benefit from some savings.
