Némanus are headliners at the New Year’s Eve in Mira

Mira, Coimbra, December 4, 2025 — The Portuguese duo Némanus has been announced as the headline act for the New Year’s Eve celebrations in Mira, located in the coastal district of Coimbra, marking a shift from the event’s previous charitable aspect over the past two editions.

The duo, composed of brothers Né and Hélder Vieira from Peniche, is known for hits such as “Dançando Kizomba,” “Sinto Falta Dela,” and “Funaná Contigo,” blending Brazilian and African rhythms with traditional Portuguese music.

This year, Némanus celebrated 25 years of their career with a sold-out concert in November at the Meo Arena in Lisbon.

“The biggest New Year’s Eve in the country is here,” joked Helder Vieira during the presentation of the festivities in Mira, where the duo will perform for the third time.

Né Vieira highlighted the connection of “people linked to the sea” between Peniche and Praia de Mira, where the New Year’s celebrations will take place next to the Barrinha waterfront.

In addition to Némanus, who are scheduled to perform at 12:15 AM on the first day of 2026, the program includes the group Vibe at 10:00 PM, prior to the pyromusical show marking the new year, and concludes with DJs Eletric Boys, both hailing from Praia de Mira.

Artur Fresco, the Mayor of Mira, described the festivities as “a regional and even national reference,” although he noted that this year’s partnership with radio RFM has not materialized. This model was established in 2015 by the former municipal president Raul Almeida, who passed away earlier this year.

“There is no conflict, just circumstances that did not align,” said the mayor.

This year, the New Year’s Eve in Mira also loses the charitable nature of the previous two editions, as the municipality no longer awards local volunteer firefighters the concession of bar operations at the venue through protocol.

When questioned about this by Lusa, Artur Fresco admitted ignorance regarding the revenue gathered by the firefighters last year and emphasized that this year, a public auction was decided upon for the management of those spaces.

The cost of the festivities amounts to around 120,000 euros, which is 20,000 euros more than in 2024/2025.

Regarding the fee for the headline acts, the Mayor did not disclose it, only referencing the total investment that includes, besides artists, infrastructure such as the stage, sound, lighting, and security, among other costs. Némanus also stated they were unaware of their performance contract’s value, referring that information to their agent.
