
On March 31, 2025, employment in the public administration sector reached 758,889 jobs, as reported by the Directorate-General for Administration and Public Employment (DGAEP). This figure marks a new record.
This number represents a “1.3% increase year-on-year and a 0.7% increase compared to the previous quarter.”
The Statistical Summary of Public Employment (SIEP) is a quarterly publication through which the DGAEP provides statistical information about public employment within the scope of labor market statistics.
“The information provided focuses on the universe of entities that comprise the public sector from the national accounting perspective, classified into: public administrations (chapter I) and public financial and non-financial corporations (chapter II), consistent with the respective universe defined by the National Institute of Statistics, I.P. (INE, I.P.),” it is explained.
