New Shein store in Paris with 50,000 visitors since opening

The opening of the world’s first permanent store has sparked controversy in France following the online sale of childlike sex dolls and category A weapons.

After removing all illegal products from its site, Shein will not face immediate suspension in France. Nevertheless, the company remains “under close surveillance” by the government and is still subject to legal proceedings.

Regarding the online sales platform, a new assessment is scheduled for next week at the request of French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu. Meanwhile, the Ministry of the Interior appealed to the Paris judicial court on Friday to “end the severe damage to public order caused by Shein’s repeated failures.”

The director of the Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville (BHV) expressed satisfaction today with the foot traffic at the Shein store. Founded in 2012 in China and now based in Singapore, the platform is frequently accused of environmental pollution and poor working conditions.

“In just a few days, over 50,000 visitors came to discover the first Shein collection at BHV,” said Frédéric Merlin on the social network Instagram.

The executive also wishes to “expand the collection with a more comprehensive offer for men, a children’s area, a wider range of dresses, and more accessible basics to cater to all lifestyles.”
