The Lick nightclub, located in the parish of Boliqueime, in Loulé, Algarve, was the target of a robbery in the early hours of Sunday, as confirmed by the Republican National Guard (GNR) on Monday.
Without providing further details about the case, the Guard only said that it is now under investigation.
According to Jornal de Notícias (JN), which broke the news, the robbery was carried out by two men who took about 60,000 euros from the premises after coercing an employee to hand over the money from the safe “using physical force.”
The robbery reportedly took place shortly before 9 am, when the nightclub was already closed but still had staff inside.
Despite this, the suspects managed to escape without any opposition on a motorcycle at high speed.
Meanwhile, the nightclub management issued a statement confirming the robbery, assuring that there were no customers on the premises at the time it happened and that, contrary to what had been reported, no one was injured.
It’s worth noting that Lick nightclub is one of the largest in the Algarve and a favorite destination at this time of year, not only for young Algarve residents but also for tourists visiting the region.
