Nine individuals, comprising seven men aged between 18 and 79 and two women aged 39 and 40, were identified for animal mistreatment during an inspection operation conducted by the National Republican Guard (GNR) in Moimenta da Beira.
This operation followed an investigation into the crime of mistreating companion animals, which had been underway for approximately five months, according to a statement released by the authorities on Saturday.
In total, 32 animals were inspected, including various breeds of dogs, horses, and other livestock animals.
In addition to identifying nine people, the GNR issued 16 offense notices for various violations, including lack of registration in the Companion Animal Information System (SIAC), failure to vaccinate against rabies, inadequate housing conditions, omission of identification for equines and donkeys, and lack of licensing for livestock activities.
The operation was conducted in collaboration with the municipal veterinary doctor of Moimenta da Beira, and the details have been communicated to the Judicial Court of Moimenta da Beira.
