The current Governor of the Bank of Portugal (BdP), Mário Centeno, addressed issues on Friday regarding the green light for the institution’s new headquarters. He assured that his independence in office “cannot be compromised” throughout his public service tenure and left open prospects for the future.
Reflecting on his departure, he stated, “There cannot be disappointments at this time, nor any changes in mood.”
Following the announcement that he would not be reappointed, Mário Centeno clarified to RTP that he had conveyed “all the information” regarding the project to the Ministry of Finance.
It should be noted that on Thursday, it was announced that Álvaro Santos Pereira would succeed him.
