The National Health Service (SNS) portal reported at 09:14 today that the general emergency department at Amadora-Sintra was treating 33 patients with an average wait time for initial evaluation of 10 hours. Of these patients, 22 were classified as urgent and faced a waiting time of 6 hours and 22 minutes, while two were deemed very urgent, waiting approximately two hours.
At the Hospital Garcia de Orta in Almada, the waiting time for an initial evaluation was just over one hour.
Meanwhile, at Beatriz Ângelo in Loures, the SNS portal indicated an average wait time of three hours for an initial evaluation. Lesser urgent patients could expect to wait around eight hours.
According to the triage system, very urgent situations (orange) are recommended to receive attention within 10 minutes post-triage, urgent cases (yellow) within 60 minutes, and lesser urgent cases (green) within 120 minutes.
The SNS Portal indicates that “the calculation of the average time is based on the mean duration from when the patient enters their current phase (waiting for triage, waiting for a first evaluation, or under observation).”
