The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued a warning for northwest waves expected to reach five to six meters, with a maximum height of 11 meters.

After the orange signal is downgraded, the northern coast of Madeira Island will remain under a yellow warning until at least 9 p.m., with anticipated northwest waves of four to five meters in height.

A similar alert is already active for the southern coast of Madeira Island and Porto Santo Island.

Additionally, the entire Autonomous Region of Madeira will be under a yellow warning until at least 6 p.m. due to predicted showers, sometimes heavy and occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms.

The IPMA has also issued a yellow warning for the northern and southern coasts of Madeira Island and Porto Santo Island because of wind, which could reach gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour. This alert will remain in effect until at least 6 p.m.

As a result of the meteorological situation, Porto Santo Line, the maritime route operator between Madeira and Porto Santo Islands utilizing the Lobo Marinho vessel, has decided to cancel today’s voyages that were scheduled to depart from Funchal at 8 a.m. and from Porto Santo at 8 p.m.

To address the situation, Porto Santo Line is offering alternative extra voyages on Friday, with departures from Funchal at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. and returns from Porto Santo at 12 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
