The Notícias ao Minuto ranks as the second most visited online news site weekly in Portugal, trailing only behind SIC Notícias, as reported in the Digital News Report 2025 by the Reuters Institute.
The report’s data indicates that, in 2024, 25% of surveyed individuals visited the site at least once a week, while 14% accessed it more than three times a week.
Despite a slight percentage decrease, Notícias ao Minuto retains its second place from 2023.
Regarding reader trust, 64% of respondents expressed confidence in the Notícias ao Minuto brand. This trust is reflected in its win at Consumer Choice 2025 in the Online Information Press category, a title it has secured for nine consecutive years.
This data emerges amidst significant challenges for online media: 35% of Portuguese people occasionally or frequently avoid the news, slightly down from 2024 (37%).
In Portugal, only 10% of individuals have paid for online news, placing the country among those with the lowest rates out of 48 nations analyzed by the Digital News Report, indicating a stagnation scenario. Trust in news in Portugal has dropped by 10 percentage points from 2015 to 2025, although it remains among the countries with highest trust levels (54%).
Overall, the perception of trust in media in Portugal shows mixed signals: while the Portuguese continue to avoid news and declare less trust, the country remains highly ranked globally. Notícias ao Minuto stands out with a consistent rise in trust, maintaining digital presence, and winning consumer-focused awards.
