
In August 2025, the Azores airports recorded the arrival of 320,860 passengers, marking a 4.3% increase compared to the same month the previous year, according to the SREA report on air passenger movement.
All islands in the archipelago experienced a year-on-year increase in passenger arrivals during this month. Graciosa led with a 12.3% growth, followed by Corvo (9.7%), Pico (9.3%), São Jorge (6%), and Faial (5%).
São Miguel and Flores recorded smaller year-on-year rises with 4.7% and 4.3%, respectively, while Terceira saw an increase of 1.5% and Santa Maria 0.8%.
São Miguel, the largest island in the archipelago, accounted for 56.8% of all passengers landing, with 182,348 passengers in August, followed by Terceira with 64,627 passengers (20.1%), Faial with 22,437 (7%), and Pico with 18,777 (5.9%).
Among the over 320,000 disembarked passengers, nearly half (47.5%) arrived from inter-island flights (152,087). National flights from mainland Portugal and Madeira brought 114,508 passengers (35.7%), and international flights accounted for 54,265 arrivals (16.9%).
All categories showed an increase in passengers, with the highest year-on-year rise occurring in inter-island flights (5.8%), followed by domestic flights (3.9%) and international flights (1.3%).
The number of passengers departing in August reached 331,488, an increase of 4.5% over the same month in 2024.
The number of passengers on international flights dropped by 0.7% to 58,493. Those departing on inter-island flights numbered 152,089, up 5.5%, and domestic flights carried 120,906 passengers, an increase of 5.8%.
