
In comparison to the same period last year, there was an increase of 1,481 beneficiaries, representing a rise of 0.8%.
Regarding the previous month, there was a decrease of 6,652 beneficiaries in June, equivalent to a drop of 3.5%, according to the report from the Office of Strategy and Planning (GEP) of the Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security released today.
The 181,002 unemployment benefit recipients recorded in June represent the lowest number since October 2024, when there were 180,192 beneficiaries, according to an analysis based on available data.
The number of unemployment benefit recipients has been declining for four consecutive months, after reaching a peak in February since January 2022.
As for unemployment benefits, there was a year-on-year increase of 2.1% in June (an additional 3,028 beneficiaries), totaling 145,838. In a month-on-month comparison, there was a decrease of 3.4% (5,157 fewer beneficiaries).
“The average monthly value of unemployment benefits in June was 704.95 euros, representing an annual positive variation of 8.1%,” notes the GEP.
Meanwhile, the number of initial social unemployment benefit recipients decreased by 13.6% compared to the same month last year (947 fewer benefits processed) and fell by 14.6% compared to May (a decrease of 1,031 beneficiaries), totaling 6,007.
The subsequent social unemployment benefit covered 20,758 beneficiaries in June, corresponding to a year-on-year reduction of 1.7% (366 fewer beneficiaries) and a monthly decline of 2% (432 fewer beneficiaries).
As has been the trend, unemployment benefits were predominantly requested by women, accounting for 104,555 female beneficiaries and 76,447 male beneficiaries (42.2%).
