The number of unemployed rose by around 2.5% at the end of July, compared to the same period last year, to 284,330, with the Center region standing out, with an increase of 8.7%, the IEFP revealed today.
“At the end of July 2023, 284,330 unemployed individuals were registered with the Employment Services of the Mainland and Autonomous Regions, which represents 63.8% of a total of 445,559 job applications,” according to statistics from the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP).
The total number of unemployed rose by 2.4% compared to the previous month and by 2.5% compared to July 2022.
The number of people registered for less than 12 months contributed to the year-on-year change, with an increase of 24,801.
Meanwhile, those registered for 12 months or more fell by 17,937.
