Portugal’s Nuno Borges climbed three places today to 55th in the world tennis rankings, with Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas re-entering the top 10 after his triumph at the Masters 1,000 in Monte Carlo.
Even without having played a tournament, Nuno Borges has once again moved closer to the top 50 in the week in which he will make his debut as a seed in an ATP tournament, in Bucharest, where, as the seventh seed, he will face Swiss Stan Wawrinka in the first round.
With no change in the top five, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic remains top of the rankings, ahead of Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.
With his victory in Monte Carlo, the first Masters 1,000 clay-court event of the season, Tsitsipas climbed five places to sixth, while the beaten finalist, Norwegian Casper Ruud, climbed four places to sixth.
In a week in which the Billie Jean Cup was played, there were no changes in the women’s rankings, with Francisca Jorge remaining in 190th place as the best Portuguese, while Poland’s Iga Swiatek is the leader, ahead of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and American Coco Gauff.
