Portuguese tennis player Nuno Borges qualified for the semi-finals of the Nottingham challenger in England today, beating Japan’s Sho Shimabukuro by two sets in the quarter-finals.

The current 73rd in the ATP rankings came from behind to beat the 177th-ranked player 6-4 in an hour and 15 minutes, thus securing his first appearance in the “semi-finals” of a grass-court tournament.

The Portuguese number one, seeded third in the British tournament, will face the winner of the clash between Andy Murray, former world number one and currently ranked 44th, and Switzerland’s Dominic Stricker, ranked 117th.

Nuno Borges has already won two challenger tournaments this season.
