
As of noon today, the Emergency Obstetrics and Gynecology services at the Hospital Infante D. Pedro in Aveiro and the Obstetrics service at the Hospital Distrital de Santarém are closed.
On Sunday, the Obstetrics and Gynecology service at the Hospital Infante D. Pedro will remain closed, while the Obstetrics service at the Hospital de Santarém will reopen at 08:30 as part of a pilot project requiring patients to first contact the SNS 24 line (802 24 24 24).
Today, there are six emergency departments receiving only INEM-referred cases until midnight: the Obstetrics and Gynecology departments of Hospital Prof. Doutor Fernando da Fonseca (Amadora-Sintra), Hospital de São Bernardo in Setúbal, Hospital de Vila Franca de Xira, Hospital Doutor Manoel Constâncio in Abrantes, and Hospital de Santo André in Leiria, as well as the Pediatric department at Hospital de Vila Franca de Xira.
The Pediatric emergency service at Hospital Beatriz Ângelo in Loures will also operate under these conditions starting at 21:00.
On Sunday, the Obstetrics and Gynecology emergencies at the Amadora-Sintra Hospital and Hospital de Santo André in Leiria, along with the Pediatric emergency at Hospital de Vila Franca de Xira, will remain operational under these protocols until midnight.
In other locations, the requirement for INEM referral will be in effect for shorter or staggered periods, including the Obstetrics emergency at the Hospital Distrital de Santarém, from 20:30 to midnight.
On Sunday, there will also be two emergency services only accepting cases referred by INEM or the SNS 24 line: the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at the Hospital de Braga, from 08:00 to midnight, and the General department at Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes in Beja, from 20:00 to midnight.
Data regarding schedules indicate that 126 emergency services are open this weekend across the country.
Health authorities urge the public to contact the SNS 24 line to receive appropriate guidance before heading to an emergency department.
