The Odivelas station of the Lisbon Metro has now reopened after being closed since 2:22 PM on Saturday due to heavy and sudden rainfall. The company attributed the closure to a significant amount of water entering the station as a result of the intense downpour.
A statement released today by the company highlighted, “The entry to the station is now accessible through the upper concourse,” adding that “one of the entrances to the upper concourse and the access from the bus interface to the lower concourse will be temporarily closed for repair work.”
The company assured that the reopening took place only after it was confirmed that safety conditions were met to allow the station to operate securely.
The statement also praised the efforts made by its teams, firefighters, and other authorities involved in restoring the public transport service at the Odivelas station.
Meanwhile, the Greater Lisbon sub-regional command of Civil Protection recorded around 120 incidents between noon and 8:00 PM on Saturday, mainly in the municipalities of Loures and Odivelas, due to the intense rainfall.
