A severe rainstorm led to the closure of the Odivelas station of the Lisbon Metro on Saturday night, the company has confirmed.
“The very intense and sudden rainfall experienced this afternoon in Odivelas and other areas of Greater Lisbon caused surrounding streets to channel significant amounts of water into the Odivelas station of Metropolitano de Lisboa. As a result, the station has been closed since 14:22,” stated the official communication.
Train service on the Yellow Line of the Metro is currently operational between Sr. Roubado and Rato stations in both directions.
Odivelas station will remain closed while firefighters and Lisbon Metro services conduct water pumping operations both outside and inside the station and ensure conditions are safe for the station to resume operations.
