An elderly woman was found “by an office worker in Maia” while “wandering on the street, showing clear signs of disorientation.” The bracelet from the Estou Aqui Adultos program contributed to a positive outcome, the Public Security Police (PSP) revealed in a statement published on Friday, August 15, on Facebook.
In this context, officers from the Porto Metropolitan Command went to the scene, noting that “the person exhibited incoherent speech and was detached from reality.”
“As the elderly woman was wearing a bracelet from the Estou Aqui Adultos program,” the necessary actions were taken using the data from this program,” the police further noted, explaining that “the woman’s son (listed as an emergency contact in the program)” was contacted.
Afterwards, the elderly woman was “left in the care of a trusted person, as advised by the contact,” the PSP concluded.
Do you know how this program works? How to request the bracelet?
In the same note, the PSP reminds that “Estou Aqui Adultos bracelets are “intended for people who, due to age or illness, might become disoriented or unconscious, even temporarily, in public areas.”
The program aims to ensure the safety of all users in public and “promote a quick reunion with the pre-designated family or acquaintance.”
The request for a bracelet can be made “by the user themselves” or “by a third party.” For this, one should access this site.
