The debate begins with a draw determining that António José Seguro will be the first to speak. The initial topic focuses on changes to labor law.
Seguro, supported by the Socialist Party (PS), stated that Portugal “does not need a revision of labor legislation,” arguing that the topics are “imbalanced and have not been voted on.”
“It is imbalanced because it infringes on workers’ rights,” he asserted, calling for a “consensus and balance” to be reached.
Regarding the general strike scheduled for December 11, Seguro maintained that “the right to strike is a legitimate right of workers, and when they have no other means to assert their rights, naturally they have to resort [to striking],” but he reiterated his call for debate.
