“One battle after another” with nine Golden Globe nominations

In the announcement of the Golden Globe Awards, Paul Thomas Anderson’s film has garnered nine nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, and Best Actress for Chase Infinity.

During the 83rd Golden Globes, Wagner Moura has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama for his role in “The Secret Agent,” directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, marking the first time a Brazilian actor has been nominated for this award.

This nomination represents a historic milestone for Brazilian representation at the Golden Globes, where the country’s artists have often been overlooked in the major acting categories, as reported by Variety.

Moura’s recognition follows his historic victory at the New York Film Critics Circle, where he became the first Latino actor to win the Best Actor award for his “acclaimed performance in the political thriller,” demonstrating his characteristic blend of restraint and volatility, notes Variety.

The nomination of “One Battle After Another,” in nine categories, marks a triumph for Warner Bros., following the announcement of the production company’s acquisition by Netflix for $72 billion.

Following closely behind Anderson’s film is “Sentimental Value,” directed by Joachim Trier, a Norwegian family drama about a family of filmmakers, which received eight nominations, and the vampire-themed thriller “Sinners” by Ryan Coogler, an acclaimed box office hit.

“Sentimental Value” received nominations for four of its actors: Stellan Skarsgård, Renate Reinsve, Elle Fanning, and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas.

Among the seven nominations for “Sinners” are Best Picture, Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, and Best Director for Ryan Coogler.
