The individual critically injured in a collision this morning on the A4 motorway, heading from Vila Real to Amarante, has succumbed to their injuries, a source from the Douro Sub-Regional Command confirmed.
“The collision between two light vehicles, reported at 6:30 AM, resulted in one fatality and two critical injuries, who were transported to Penafiel Hospital,” the source stated.
It was also revealed that the A4 remained closed in the Vila Real-Amarante direction, beyond the Marão Tunnel, to facilitate the road’s cleanup operations as of 7:50 AM.
At that time, 13 operatives were present on-site, supported by five vehicles.
The A4, known as the Transmontana motorway, connects Matosinhos in the Porto district to Quintanilha in the Bragança district, continuing to the border with Spain.
