A section of the A7 highway near the area of Vila Real was closed at 09:40 AM following an accident that left only the left lane open for traffic flowing from Ribeira de Pena to Vila Pouca de Aguiar, according to the GNR command in Vila Real.
Authorities reported the accident occurred at kilometer 102, in an area known for ice accumulation.
The collision alert was raised at 07:45 AM, involving a heavy goods vehicle and a passenger car.
The seriously injured is a 60-year-old man, who was taken to Vila Real Hospital.
According to GNR, the three injured individuals were in the car.
GNR also recorded three accidents in the same area of the A7 this morning, with the other two incidents being skids that resulted in material damage.
