“This recognition results from the teams’ commitment to implementing effective processes, aimed at continuous improvement, humanization of care, and strict compliance with applicable regulatory and legal requirements,” emphasized the chairman of the board in a statement sent to the Lusa news agency.
For Alexandre Lourenço, this certification granted by an external and independent entity “represents not only the validation of the work carried out but also an opportunity to enhance and showcase the best practices at ULS de Coimbra.”
The quality certification from the Directorate-General for Health recognizes the “commitment to excellence, patient safety, and good clinical practices.”
Teresa Lugarinho Monteiro, director of the surgical block at the General Hospital and coordinator of the Ambulatory Surgery Unit at ULS de Coimbra, stated that the “certification is the result of rigorous, consistent, and deeply collaborative work, reflecting a continuous commitment to clinical excellence and genuinely person-centered care.”
According to the specialist, “this recognition renewed and reinforced the team’s motivation to embrace upcoming challenges with the same determination, cohesion, and focus on continuous improvement.”
Meanwhile, Maria João Dallot, director of the Department of Quality and Continuous Improvement, highlighted the work of the involved teams, who “demonstrated great dedication, resilience, and adaptability, taking on the challenge of certification as an opportunity to enhance the quality of care provided.”
“This milestone does not mark the end of the journey; on the contrary, maintaining certification demands a permanent commitment, a vigilant attitude, and the consolidation of sustainable and systematic practices,” she noted.
For ULS de Coimbra, the certification of these two services strengthens its position as a reference organization, focused on the quality of care provided and the trust of its users.
