Operation Janus. PSP arrested five people linked to private security

The “Operation Janus” targeted the legal compliance of safety measures in food and beverage establishments, announced the Public Security Police (PSP) today in a statement.

During the operation, 77 food and beverage establishments, seven private security entities, two fuel stations, seven precious metal buying and selling establishments, and five pharmacies were inspected.

Four individuals were arrested for drug trafficking, and one person who had an outstanding arrest warrant was detained.

Two food and beverage establishments were temporarily closed.

As a result of the actions, 49 infractions were recorded, including three for the absence of surveillance services or failure to meet the minimum number of private security personnel with the specialty of doorman security, and 13 for breaches related to the operation of CCTV (video surveillance) systems.

Additionally, five infractions were noted for non-compliance with uniforms composed of apparel not approved by the PSP, one for the absence of a security officer in food and beverage establishments with a capacity equal to or greater than 400 seats, and 27 related to other police operational issues.

Over two hundred police officers from various departments and territorial commands participated in the operation.

According to the PSP, the private security sector comprises 86 companies holding 140 licenses, employing approximately 40,000 private security professionals.
