Operation “Portugal Always Safe” made 50 arrests in the last three days

The Internal Security System (SSI) released provisional data today indicating that between December 5 and 7, authorities recorded 48 crimes and 424 infractions, with 58% related to road violations and 12% tax-related.

During this operation, which began on November 17 and continues until the end of the year, 185 foreign nationals were checked, with 4% found to be in Portugal illegally. Six vehicles, one firearm, and three bladed weapons were confiscated.

Authorities also inspected 105 commercial establishments, including 68 nightlife venues and 34 restaurants.

The operations across mainland Portugal and autonomous regions involved the participation of the GNR, PSP, Judiciary Police (PJ), Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE), Tax and Customs Authority (AT), and the Authority for Working Conditions (ACT). A total of 909 operatives, supported by 317 vehicles and 15 canine units (teams comprising a police officer and a dog), took part in these efforts.
