The local council has temporarily closed the swimming facility as a preventive measure to protect public health. This decision was based on changes observed in the regular water quality tests.
“We had tests that did not guarantee the quality we desire, and we had to carry out a shock treatment on the water,” João Campolargo, the city council president, stated.
The official explained that this is a precautionary measure, indicating that the pools will remain closed until the municipality receives the results of new analyses, which are expected to take three days.
“The shock treatment has already been done, so we are just waiting for the analysis results,” he noted, adding that there are no known health issues reported by users.
He further assured that this problem is not related to excessive use of the facility, stating that the pool’s capacity limits have been respected.
“People are responding very well to the pool, and we want to maintain the quality it has always had,” he emphasized.
The outdoor pools of Vale de Ílhavo opened to the public on June 27 and will remain operational until September 21.
