More than 200 people marched in Lisbon today, calling for an end to fossil fuels by 2030.
The demonstration, organized by a collective including the Student Climate Strike and Climáximo, follows a week of student protests demanding an end to fossil fuels, during which schools were closed by the students.
“I don’t know, but I’ve heard that the planet is burning. Measures need to be taken, and the government is playing,” chanted the demonstrators as they marched from Largo Camões to the Assembly of the Republic.
The protesters also shouted that “without a future, there is no peace.”
The march, titled “Our Future Is Not For Sale-End Fossil 2030,” also featured speeches by teachers and doctors.
