At the end of August, overdue payments by public entities amounted to 889.2 million euros, marking an increase of 245.8 million euros compared to the same period last year, according to a document released by the Budgetary Authority, formerly known as the Directorate-General for the Budget (DGO).
Compared to the previous month, there was an increase of 148.7 million euros.
The document notes that the year-on-year change reflects an increase in the health sector (328.1 million euros), which was offset by a decrease in the Central Administration (minus 71.4 million euros), excluding the health subsector, and in the Local Administration (minus 14.8 million euros).
The monthly variation was mainly driven by developments in entities within the health sector (146.4 million euros).
